    JOB OVERVIEW

    The Clinical Coordinator will set up collection stations at approved sites for sample collection and/or product research. The Clinical Coordinator will actively recruit individuals to participate in the study by answering questionnaires, providing a sample and/or testing the product for usability purposes and feedback. The Clinical Coordinator will also perform predicate testing, if applicable, and ensure that samples are properly transported back to the main laboratory. There is a visual acuity requirement for this position.

    REPORTS DIRECTLY TO

    The Clinical Coordinator will report directly to either the on-site lead or to the Product Scientist(s) that oversee the project

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Maintain on hand inventory of the following if applicable:
      • Up to date IRB consent forms specific to each location or area
      • Collection kits for both walk-in and provider collected samples
      • Informational material including instruction on collection, testing and results.
      • Visual and cognitive qualifiers
      • Results/feedback sheet for users to fill out
      • Usability questionnaire for Clinical Coordinator to fill out
      • Testing materials for both coordinator and lay-user, including predicate tests
      • Storage and transportation material for samples
      • Compensation for users
    • Properly inform and consent participants
    • Answer questions user may have in regards to the current study
    • When testing users, observe without providing any feedback that would be considered “coaching”
    • Properly collect and label all samples and place in appropriate media if necessary
    • Maintain and file all documentation associated with each user
    • Populate spreadsheets for user collection and/or testing
    • Maintain records for compensation given to both participants and associates
    • Maintain good report with site staff and follow all rules that apply with each individual location

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

    Minimum education of an associates degree or higher is required. Work experience in similar occupations can be used in lieu of a degree. A visual acuity and color differentiation test is required of all coordinators. Reliable non-public transportation to clinical sites is required as supplies and samples must be transported. 

    Clinical Coordinator must be able to read and write in English and have knowledge of basic medical terminology. Medical fluency in another language other than English is desirable but not required. Ability to properly communicate with medical, clerical and laboratory staff is required. The Clinical Coordinator must be able to handle and process potentially infectious samples.

    The Clinical Coordinator must be able to perform testing of devices and predicates. Familiarity with commonly used lab devices and consumables is required and includes but is not limited to: pipette, droppers, gloves, microfuge tubes, swabs, collection devices, timers and other personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to properly handle buffers of acidic and basic pH is also required.
