Our client is an early-stage technology-driven startup building a revolutionary consumer service that is looking for an inspirational hands on VP of Engineering to lead product development. You will come in as an individual contributor and first engineering hire. Though formal experience as an engineering leader is preferred, it is not required. What is required is someone who can balance operating at a detailed technical level with thinking strategically about the technology roadmap and how it can drive the business. THERE WILL BE 3 MAIN AREAS YOU WILL BE FOCUSING ON:

• PRODUCT: Interested in building a Simplified User Experience on the front end via a "No UI" philosophy and a consumer experience that make requests as easy as possible through text / mobile. Think TrueDialog or Twilio with enhanced SMS capabilities. 
• MARKETING: Driving conversion / optimization across the consumer journey from discovery to on-boarding and retention. Building a website with a seamless backend that prioritizes ease of use 
• DATA: Leveraging data to be predictive for both businesses and consumers.  E.g. Fixing things before they break.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A ENGINEERING LEADER WHO: 

• Is an engineer's engineer - has incredible technical competence and respect from his/her peers and team. People want to work for him/her to learn from the best.
• Can be innovative and flexible and not necessarily stuck on a particular set of technologies.  They are a Python / Django shop but they will be looking for and receptive to your input.  
• Can drive the strategy, architecture, and technology selection in a short period of time - and can adjust skill sets that are required for each stage as they scale
• Can manage other areas such as Product Management, UI/ UX - both outside contractors as well as contributing hands on.  
• Excels at cross-functional leadership and communication
• Experience building and selling a company or scaling a company from Early / Seed Stage to Series A and beyond
