    DIRECTOR, REHABILITATION SERVICES

     

    REPORTS TO: Vice President Patient Care and Family Services

     

    JOB SUMMARY

    Coordinates the activities of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, Healthplex and wellness, to include staff evaluations, student affiliations, quality assurance, acquisition of necessary supplies and equipment in both the main hospital and the off-site locations. Also responsible for program development.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare discipline required. A degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy preferred. A Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is preferred. Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of South Carolina. Two years experience as a staff therapist and one-year experience providing supervision preferred.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    May supervise anywhere from 1 to 30 staff.

     

    FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Prepares and monitors departmental budgets.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Participates in the development of departmental goals and organizational structure.
    • Selects, trains, orients and provides overall supervision of assigned personnel.
    • Develops, recommends and implements operating policy, systems and procedures.
    • Reviews and evaluates performance and recommends personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
    • Supervises, justifies, monitors and adheres to the departmental budget both for staffing and financial expenditures.
    • Addresses a multitude of staff, customer complaints and suggestions and brings them to resolution.
    • Responsible for developing new revenue streams related to rehabilitation services for RMC.
    • Ensures patients are properly evaluated and treated and that care is appropriately documented.
    • Performs other miscellaneous and related duties as assigned.
    • Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret complex scientific, clinical or business journals, financial reports or legal documents.
    • Must have the ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, staff and members of the business community.
    • Must possess the ability to write persuasive correspondence, speeches and articles for publication. Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management, large public groups, and boards of directors.
    • Must have the ability to work with complex mathematical concepts related to probability, statistical inferences, and to apply these concepts to practical situations.
    • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with concrete and abstract concepts and interpret verbal, nonverbal and written instructions.
