    Job Summary:

    As a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for FedVet Construction on federal construction projects, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that all project activities comply with safety and health requirements set forth in EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA). You will work closely with the FedVet Corporate Safety Officer and project management teams to implement and enforce comprehensive safety programs, conduct safety training, and oversee all aspects of workplace safety on the job site. SSHOs report directly to the Corporate Safety Officer and are required to be present on-site during shifts with sufficient access to every major work operation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Implement, enforce, and continuously monitor compliance with federal safety and health requirements as per EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA).

    · Develop and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) for each project phase.

    · Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.

    · Provide and document safety orientation, training, and ongoing education for all project personnel, including new employee orientation, refresher training, toolbox talks, and on-the-spot training to ensure understanding and adherence to safety protocols.

    · Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, reporting findings to project management, the FedVet Construction Corporate Safety Officer, and recommending improvements.

    · Coordinate with subcontractors and external agencies to ensure comprehensive site safety and compliance with federal regulations, reviewing subcontractor and third-party safety policies for compliance with site safety procedures.

    · Coordinate response to any on-site emergency, which includes interfacing with off- and on-site emergency response personnel.

    · Stay updated on current and upcoming safety regulations and best practices in construction safety.

    · Develop new safety policies, refine existing policies, and modify design requirements with the management team.

    · Provide daily report information pertaining to safety.

    · Conduct and document inspections, upload daily photos, complete reports, and assist with submittals using Procore and/or other construction management systems as dictated by the customer.

    · Ensure that activities comply with company policy, insurance requirements, and any other applicable standards.

    Required Qualifications:

    · Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Safety & Health Officer in federal contracting, with specific experience working on projects with federal agencies such as USACE, VA, NAVFAC, National Parks, and BLM. · Experience with USACE RMS and NAVFAC eCMS.

    · In-depth knowledge and understanding of EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA) regulations and guidelines.

    · Proven ability to develop and implement effective safety training programs.

    · Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    · Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage site safety programs and prioritize tasks.

    · Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Procore, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools for project management, communication, and documentation.

    · Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.

    · Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License and have ability to operate a company vehicle in the course of performing job duties.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    · Certification in safety management, construction management, engineering, or related field.

    · Current EM 385-1-1 Certificate.

    · Additional safety certifications relevant to federal construction projects.
