Butterfly Staffing is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer to support a federal healthcare infrastructure project in Tuskegee, Alabama.
This role will be responsible for day-to-day site safety on a large modernization project inside an active medical facility. The work includes multiple trades, phased construction, infrastructure upgrades, and coordinating work around ongoing facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site safety representative
- Implement and enforce the project Accident Prevention Plan
- Conduct daily safety inspections, site walks, and hazard assessments
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training
- Review Activity Hazard Analyses and make sure proper controls are in place before work begins
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project safety requirements
- Maintain required safety logs, reports, training records, and documentation
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Work closely with the Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Project Manager, and subcontractors
- Help manage safety during phased work inside an occupied healthcare facility
Qualifications
- Experience serving as an SSHO or senior safety professional on federal construction projects
- Experience with VA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or other federal projects preferred
- Healthcare, occupied facility, infrastructure, or phased renovation experience strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and EM 385-1-1
- Experience reviewing AHAs and managing subcontractor safety compliance
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Certifications
- OSHA 30 required
- Current First Aid/CPR certification required
- EM 385-1-1 training/experience required
- Additional competent person certifications such as Fall Protection, Excavation, or Scaffolding are a plus
