  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    The SSHO will serve as the on-site safety lead, ensuring compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and all project-specific safety requirements. This role requires proactive hazard identification, enforcement of safety protocols, and maintaining a safe work environment for all personnel.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Full-time, on-site safety oversight
    • Implement and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
    • Conduct daily safety inspections and prepare reports
    • Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and federal contract requirements
    • Stop unsafe work immediately and implement corrective actions
    • Coordinate with USACE and government inspectors regarding safety compliance
    • Maintain accurate documentation of all safety activities and incidents

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of experience as SSHO on federal or military construction projects
    • Certifications:
      • EM 385-1-1 (USACE/NAVFAC 40-hour course)
      • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
      • First Aid/CPR/AED
    • Strong knowledge of excavation, fall protection, confined space, and electrical safety
    • Ability to prepare safety documentation and compliance reports
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects
    • Familiarity with bridge work, stream restoration, and masonry repair
