A long-established Northeast builder is hiring a Site Superintendent to run a major private home renovation on the East End. Our client has more than thirty years building in the region, from luxury urban residences and fine suburban custom homes through to large, technically complex institutional and commercial work. They run the East End out of a local office, so this is not a Manhattan job with a long drive attached.
The work starts in Sagaponack - a 10,000 square foot renovation running 18 to 24 months - and the employment is not tied to it. As long as the pipeline supports it, the work continues on the East End from there.
The role
You run the site day to day and you are the point of contact for everyone working on it. You hold the schedule, sequence the trades and resolve problems before they reach the critical path. You read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and work through field conditions with the design team. You coordinate subcontractors, vendors and deliveries so trades stay productive and the site stays clean. You run quality control through daily walks, enforce site safety and regulatory compliance, coordinate inspections with the local authorities, keep a written daily log, and carry the punch list through to final completion.
What we are looking for
A track record running high-end private homes for a general contractor, where the finish level was the whole job. You have held the schedule and the trades on your own site, not supported someone else who did. Comfortable reading drawings and resolving field conditions directly with architects and designers. Daily contact with homeowners and their representatives is something you are good at, not something you avoid. Familiar with East End permitting and the local trade base, or able to get there quickly. You live on the East End or are genuinely relocating - this is not a commute from the city.
