Job Description
Skagit Arts Preschool is now hiring for lead teachers at our small, arts-focused preschool located in Mount Vernon, Washington. We are searching for experienced staff who genuinely care about the nurturing and development of preschool age kids.
Key Responsibilities
Provide constant visual and auditory supervision of children, ages 2.5 - 5, in the group.
Plan, write and implement daily activitiesin accordance with our school-wide curriculum in order to develop safe and healthy habits for the children assigned to the group.
Assess each child and provide developmentally appropriate group and individual activities. Maintain State education requirements in MERIT.
Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel safe and secure.
Ensure that childcare routines such as toileting and hand washing are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles.
Create a welcoming environment that promotes positive communication with parents and families.
Be aware of allergy and medical needs of the children in your group.
Be up to par on standards set forth by State licensing, with the desire to meet and exceed them.
Be mindful and inclusive of diversity in the classroom, as our students come from a wide range of ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
Degree in ECE strongly preferred or; must have or be obtaining a certificate in Early Childhood Education otherwise.
A strong understanding of early childhood development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
HIV/AIDS and bloodborne pathogen certification.
Proof of MMR vaccine and negative TB test result.
Food Handlers Card or willingness to obtain one.
Photo ID.
Must clear full background check which may include fingerprints.
