Job Description

As an ERP Intern during the summer of 2023, you will be tasked with analyzing and documenting the interfaces and interactions between our core EPR system, Garpac and the import finance system, Compass, as well as some additional systems in the Garpac ecosystem.

A successful candidate will have a natural curiosity to explore business processes and be able to relate a business process to the underlying data flows and content flowing between those systems.  You will be able to do exploration and review of SQL statements as well as the underlying data structures and synthesize findings into a summary non-technical level using tools such as Lucid Chart and Confluence.

During your internship, you will:

1. Explore and specify business process and summarize the process in non technical terminology. 

2. Document the process and data interactions between Garpac, Compass, and other systems in the Garpac ecosystem by interviewing SMEs, reviewing code snippets/summaries, and reviewing the database tables and fields themselves. Answering specifically:

• How does the process work?
• What is the system of record for a specific set of data.
• Document the underlying database tables including the table name, field name and a description of the data contained within that field.
• When does a specific event occur, and what are it’s predecessors and dependencies.

3. Catalog each interface in a logical sequence starting with a written overview and supporting graphics to explain the process and it's corresponding dataflows. 

4. Summarize your results and achievements to the ERP team as an executive summary.
