    Job Description

    The Client Services Technician analyzes computer and network related problems reported by end-users, diagnoses the most effective method to resolve the problem and implements the solution; installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the Skechers Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), data communications, microcomputers and all peripheral equipment.

    • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software and network-related problems encountered by end-users of the distribution center, the internet, thermal label printers, mobile devices, the mainframe, PCs, laptops and new computer technology.
    • Configures and installs Windows workstations and other computer equipment used here in the Skechers Distribution Center.
    • Performs primary network system administration on network servers as needed.
    • Installs certifies and troubleshoots Skechers Distribution Center network cabling infrastructure, including a wide variety of local area network equipment and software including; Hubs, Wireless Access Points, Switches, Wireless Adapters, Servers, Laptops, Desktops, Label Printers, Cell Phones.
    • Uses established tracking system to log requests; monitors progress, tracks problem resolution, identifies patters of failure, researches bug fixes and implements solutions; communicates with manager regarding unresolved problems.
    • Works with programmers to solve mainframe application problems to meet end-user computing needs.
    • Optimizes computer usage by researching and recommending enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
    • Enforces the Skechers network security and installation procedures.
    • Works with vendors on problem resolutions, repairs or replacement of hardware/software under warranty or under maintenance contracts.
    • Provides support for and troubleshoots multi-media devices TVs, satellite boxes, projectors, PA systems etc…
    • Provides support for and troubleshoots peripheral devices including local/network printers, wired and wireless handheld RF scanners and document scanners.

    MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

    Identify, analyze and troubleshoot a wide range of complex technical computer and network-related problems effectively; listen and communicate information to a wide variety of clients at all levels of skill; deliver user support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner; support Skechers Distribution Centers objective by training others in use of their computers and applications; lift heavy equipment; work in elevated workspaces; operate small to mid-sized heavy machinery; complete tasks with minimal supervision; have a flexible schedule for work (able to work nights evenings weekends etc…); learn and provide network support; learn and apply new technical knowledge quickly; communicate effectively with a diverse user base both verbally and in writing; work independently and as a member of a team; maintain cooperative work relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.

     

    MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF:

    Capabilities and limitations of various computer systems, including local area networks and wide area networks; the principles of information systems, especially related to multi-protocol, multi-platform client/server environments; principles and practices of networking technologies; thorough understanding of LAN/WAN protocols; theory and practice of LAN/WAN administration; Cisco routers, switches, IP phones and other Cisco hardware; CCNA/ MCP;  mastery of desktop operating systems and various software applications.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    Current experience providing technical desktop and network support in a large multi-platform and multi-operating systems environment or two years’ experience. Demonstrated experience implementing local area networks using multi-operating systems and platforms, network and computer trouble-shooting and problem solving skills required, including knowledge of networking theory, principles and practices. CompTIA A+ certification required, other certifications such as Network+ etc…, or combinations of other IT certifications are favorable. Specific knowledge of TCP/IP and Windows Server and Active Directory, basic knowledge of Linux administration would be helpful.
