About the Client

Male with Parkinson’s Disease that has been declining in his abilities over the last 10 months, lives with his wife

Decline in speech abilities (similar to speech aphasia) → he needs extra time to communicate

Uses a walker; requires standby assistance while walking and showering

Location

Sarasota, near Van Wezel Performing Arts

Schedule

Split shifts, 7 days a week

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Schedule shared between 2–3 caregivers (must commit to ongoing shifts)

What You’ll Do

Be patient and understanding; observe and listen closely to the client, do not rush him while he tries to find his words

Help with daily living: bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing: Stand-by assist (SBA) at this time

SBA with transfers, and use of walker

Prepare meals and provide help with eating if needed

Provide light housekeeping and laundry

Accompany client to the gym; assist with getting onto stationary bike

Provide companionship, patience, and encouragement

Document care and report changes to nursing staff/office

What We’re Looking For

Caregiving or HHA experience (Parkinson’s/neurological preferred)

Strong communication and observation skills

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance

Current CPR certification (or willing to obtain – course available $50–$60 in office)

Current TB test within the last 6 months (or willing to obtain)

AHCA Level 2 Background Check (or willing to obtain)
