    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Plan, coordinate, execute, and supervise projects and operations that support WMATA's enterprise GIS database, applications, and services.

    Determine, create, and deploy appropriate GIS applications and methods to meet WMATA needs in complex WMATA enterprise GIS.

    Support strategic analysis and planning for existing and planned GIS initiatives.

    Support planning, administration, design, development, implementation, or operation of WMATA’s enterprise GIS.

    Apply GIS to specific end-user problems, needs, or processes.

    Employ business problem/process analysis, spatial solutions identification and assessment, requirements analysis, GIS project management, GIS data analysis, quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC), display, and output.

    Define, develop, assess, implement, and document GIS standards, policies, and procedures.

    Support GIS interface and application integration.

    Assess new technology and implement as needed.

    Provide GIS technical and user support.

    Provide GIS training and design/creation of training materials.

    Interface GIS with different database systems such as Oracle and Microsoft Access.

    Provide GIS QA/QC functions and assist users in solving GIS systems and analytical problems.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Six (6) or more years of experience with GIS project management, business analysis, spatial analysis, and GIS development, applications, and operations support in the context of a large, complex, enterprise GIS.

    Two (2) years of task management and self-supervisory experience, including progressive experience in managing complex tasks.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the principles, practices, and methods related to successful planning, implementation, application, and management of enterprise GIS systems, operations, tools, utilities, and databases, especially as applied to transportation, transit, facilities management, planning, and crime analysis.

    Proficiency with ArcGIS and other GIS tools, utilities, and databases; advanced GIS modeling, spatial analysis, and spatial application development techniques and geographic data design; data structures; and spatial database design, construction, and implementation.

    Experience with geo-relational data development in a managed data environment, including versioned relational databases and storage area networks.

    Knowledge of database and system development life cycles, including policies, procedures, and project management and practices.

    Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science or Geography: Graduate-level degree specialized in GIS technology may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science or Geography or in any discipline: An undergraduate degree specialized in GIS technology may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
