    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Design Engineer is responsible for researching and developing ideas, designs, and processes for new products and innovations. The Design Engineer improves upon the performance and design of existing products and oversees development, manufacture, installation, and review of new product designs.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE:

    A dynamic, motivated individual who is detailed, organized, and who possesses excellent creative design & analytical skills.  Must also possess the ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, high-growth company. Must be self-driven and very hands-on, with the drive to own your designs and see them through to full-scale launch.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design, model, and test prototypes for products.
    • Create concepts, performance, and production criteria.
    • Identify and select the best materials needed for production.
    • Produce manufacture ready drawings and specifications.
    • Create parts lists and exploded assembly drawings.
    • Create technical installation guides for construction.
    • Manage the costs involved in production.
    • Produce samples of working models.
    • Use computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts.
    • Create component drawings with proper tolerances and details.
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum 4 years of hardware design engineering experience (steel, aluminum, plastics, composites).
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD Design Suite (including Inventor and Revit)
    • Proficiency in Windows operating systems, business applications, and standard MS Project software
    • Able to perform dead and active load analysis on static and dynamic structures (including FEA in SolidWorks)
    • Knowledge of available hardware components (McMaster-Carr, etc.) and industry tools
    • Ability to work with the field construction team to install & test.
    • Understanding of basic circuits and electronics safety, as well as the ability to solder and prototype (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
    • Knowledge of industry standard processes
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects
    • Ability to identify problems and resolve issues in a quick and timely manner
