Job Description

The Technical Support position is a part of the Engineering Department.  The position is an Engineering liaison to the production floor, providing information, knowledge and problem solving capabilities to keep the work moving in production. The main task is to ensure that the production floor has all the necessary information from Engineering to complete trucks in a timely manner.

Work may include answering questions related to engineering drawings, bill of materials, change requests, etc. If the shop cannot figure out a particular issue, this person would jump in as the problem solver. The person in this position should be very good with diagnosing issues, wiring and PLC programming and mechanical ability.

The position will split time between office/desk work and hand-on work in the shop

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Loading program files into the truck PLC and helping with dry testing unit

·         Loading template/setting parameters in engine controllers

·         Setting road speed limiters on Ford/Ram/Isuzu chassis

·         Assist in update BoMs

·         Collect and review shop packets from completed jobs on the floor

·         Assist in troubleshooting on the floor and in test bay when necessary

·         Modify part designs if drafters cannot do so in a timely fashion

·         Identify and communicate repeat issues to design engineers

·         Identify and communicate ideas to improve efficiency in the shop

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

·         Strong Mechanical aptitude a must

·         Classes in Mechanical Engineering, degree not required

·         CAD experience preferred, but not required
