  • Responsibilities

    The Field Engineer will report to a Project Manager or Superintendent. The Field Engineer's major duties include: Coordinating and directing the work of all trades assigned to a construction work site. Resolving and clarifying design issues. Supporting creation of project budgets and schedules. Identifying and resolving field issues and change orders. Setting expectations for managing a safe work site. Reviewing each trade's work progress with respect to each project phase. Ensuring work is completed in accordance with quality standards and contract specifications. Reviewing construction drawings. Documenting each phase of the project.

    Skyline Capital Builders (SCB) will train qualified candidates to develop: General knowledge of safety regulations, ANSI standards, local and state building codes, environmental codes, availability of industry-specific codes and guidelines. General knowledge of general construction processes, practices and work sites. Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Suretrak, Primavera (or other scheduling software).

    Responsibilities:

    Jobsite safety.

    Establish and maintain construction schedule, identifying and solving problems as needed.

    Direct all field personnel and activities in accordance with project schedule through completion of final punch list.

    Ensure the highest quality workmanship is provided.

    Review and assist in developing scopes of work for each subcontractor.

    Conduct preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work.

    Participate in progress meetings with the team and or owners.

    Order materials and schedule necessary inspections.

    Promote jobsite safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify jobsite hazards.

    Ensure onsite activities maintain or exceed compliance with company safety policy by all employees and contractors.

    Maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and colleagues.

    Qualifications:

    Basic qualifications for Field Engineer candidates include: Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology or Associate of Arts degree in Construction Management.

    Knowledge of engineering principles.

    OSHA 30 training required.

    Knowledge of basic business principles sufficient to project and monitor expenses.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.

    Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions and engineering/architectural drawings.

    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

    Experience with construction projects, mechanical/electrical systems, building materials, building mechanics or working with craft workers.
