  • Responsibilities

    Use your skills as a Software Engineer to help the team build out an application suite into a full “as a service” functionality, help maintaining a live system, and help work on implementing the roadmap of new features and experiences that will cover everything from backend development on distributed systems, to client side development for our suite of supporting client apps, to deployment support and system troubleshooting and monitoring.

    Must be a U.S. Citizen. Active security clearance strongly preferred.

    The ideal candidate has experience with the following:

    • Proficiency in Python programming language;
    • Containerized deployments (Docker);
    • Strong backend development experience;
    • API development;
    • Familiar with multiple front-end frameworks (angular, react);
    • Vanilla javascript and typescript;
    • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud provider services;
    • Strong understanding of asynchronous or multi threaded parallel architectures;
    • Event streaming architectures and associated tools (e.g. Kafka, NiFi, RabbitMQ, SQS, service meshes, etc);
    • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL);
    • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git);
    • Comfortable and familiar with code reviews, both having your work reviewed and reviewing others work;
    • Automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, Selenium);
    • Working in and with air-gapped systems;
    • Kubernetes or other container orchestration strategies (nice to have);
    • Comfortable code spelunking and writing in many code bases;
    • Ensuring the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications;
    • Identifying and addressing bottlenecks and bugs;
    • Previous experience in a startup environment (preferred);
    • Ownership of a portion of the project;
    • Architecting and running with a solution (generally solutions oriented and action driven);
    • Great communication skills;
    • And ability to work well on a distributed team.

    Office hours are flexible, but in this role there is expectation of core hours and meeting attendance. Most work is performed remotely with a geographically dispersed team; this role is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Some travel may be required on an as needed basis, but not often. Must be a U.S. citizen.
