Small Animal Veterinarian Rotating Internship
DoveLewis is currently seeking Small Animal Rotating Veterinarian Interns for 202-2027. Program dates will be 06/15/2026 - 06/26/2027.
DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is a non-profit, AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level 1-certified, 24-hour multi-specialty referral center in Portland, Oregon. We have one of the highest ER caseloads in the country, and a dedicated ICU for hospitalized patients. Our hospital complex encompasses two adjacent state-of-the-art facilities; one newly constructed as of November 2024.
This is a true rotating internship including a strong foundation in Emergency Critical Care and rotations through all of our in-hospital specialties: Cardiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics, Hospice, Rehab, and Management. The primary goals for this program are to help interns become competent and skilled at patient assessment and care, build diagnostic and treatment plans, learn how to navigate through complex in-hospital cases, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. We emphasize mentorship, teamwork, compassion, direct support, didactic education, and primary patient care.
We view an internship as an invaluable step to becoming a successful veterinarian capable of adapting to many roles in the future. Former DoveLewis interns have gone on to advanced residency training in multiple specialties, and careers in specialty, emergency, and general medicine practice. **
