Small Animal Veterinarian (St Kitts)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated veterinarian to join our team at the Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC). The Veterinarian will play an integral role in the delivery of small animal primary care and emergency services at the Ross University Veterinary Clinic, while also contributing to student education and professional development. This position combines clinical practice with teaching responsibilities in a collaborative academic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive small animal primary care, including both medicine and surgery.
* Deliver emergency services as required by RUVC operations.
* Demonstrate flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to ensure emergency coverage.
* Participate in _Introduction to Clinics_ and _Essential Veterinary Skills (EVS)_ courses.
* Supervise seventh-semester students during clinical rotations at RUVC.
* Support students from other semesters in EVS laboratories.
* Provide mentorship to ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills essential for a successful transition into their clinical year.
* Engage in continued education and professional growth activities.
* Participate actively in clinic and faculty meetings.
* Contribute to assigned committees and collaborate on research projects.
* Meet with individual students to provide guidance and support as needed.
* Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and smooth functioning of RUVC.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or international equivalent (required).
American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) certification (preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in small animal general practice, including independent provision of emergency care.
Demonstrated interest in surgery and/or dentistry (preferred).
Must be willing to relocate and live full time in St. Kitts. (relocation offered)
Strong desire to teach and engage with veterinary students (essential).
Previous teaching or mentorship experience (preferred).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-based environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (preferred).
