Small Business Litigation & Transactional Lawyer
Job Description: Our attorneys represent small businesses in three roughly equal ways: • Transactions : For example, Drafting LLC docs, Drafting Customer or Employee Contracts, Reviewing Vendor Contracts and Business Sale Agreements. • Conflict Driven Cases : These are not yet in litigation but might be headed there. We do a lot of business “divorces”, breach of contract matters, and a bit of commercial collections. • Litigation: Cases and claims filed with the courts. We do not do real estate, estate planning or securities. Over time our relationships with clients often develop into more of an outside general counsel role. $120,000 to $140,000 plus bonuses. Experienced attorneys can start as high as $140,000. Our salaries per hour worked are very competitive with national firms. Less experienced attorneys will naturally demand a lower starting salary, but we increase on a six month step up. Responsibilities: • Hours Expectations : Our attorneys bill 6 hours per day because we believe in Work-Life Balance. This is 1380 hours a year versus many firms with 1800 or 2000 expectations. • Client Contact : Our attorneys handle their own clients. We do the marketing and case finance, but our attorneys get to practice the craft of law. Qualifications: • Litigation experience is a must, though it need not be in business law. We have attorneys from insurance defense, collections, family law, and other specialties. • The ability to interact and manage client expectations is a must. • Self-discipline and a willingness to learn are essential too! Compensation: $120,000 to $140,000 plus bonuses
