POSITION TITLE: UX WEB DEVELOPER

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

POSITION TYPE: FULL-TIME

REPORTS TO: SENIOR UX/PRODUCT MANAGER

SALARY RANGE: $62,000 - $67,500

Smart City is a hyper-personalized, human-centered apartment locating service that saves renters time and money when searching for a new place to live. A unique lead generation system paired with our proprietary internal technology has created over 4300% growth in six years. Smart City has caused a major disruption in an antiquated apartment locating industry, all while being able to scale to a significant $19m in revenue with no outside funding. Even more impressive and unlike many startups in the real estate space, Smart City has continued to remain profitable during all high growth periods.

THE POSITION:

Smart City looks for new team members who don't just create, but also innovate. We are obsessed with data and also making things pretty. Our idea of a successful product is robust but extremely simple to use. Moving quickly and taking risks is ingrained in our DNA.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY EXPECTATIONS:

• Understand our business, build relationships with employees, and guide strategic decisions that create an incredible user experience through technology
• Communicate professionally and with empathy, solicit and provide feedback, actively offer help, and make sure everyone is aligned
• Collaborate with the Senior UX/Product Manager to analyze user requirements and convert requirements to technical design documents
• Guide architecture and implementation discussions, helps unblock other developers, establish best practices for maintainability, and strategically manage risk
• Take responsibility (even when no one asks)
• Work collaboratively on a cross-functional team of developers, designers, and the leadership team
• You have a good eye for design - UI/UX is your expertise
• Learn from everyone, no matter what their title is
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines on a tight schedule

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 2-5 years front-end web development and working with various web technologies
• Solid portfolio showing at least 2–3 small to medium level projects
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related work experience preferred
• Experience working in an Agile Delivery model
• Experience working in a Continuous Deployment model
• Experience with CMS development, especially WordPress and and WPEngine
• Experience writing and maintaining responsive CSS
• Understanding of web standards and accessibility guidelines
• Experience collaborating with others and working in small teams
• Experience with server administration a plus
• Some knowledge, but not required experience with client-side JavaScript MVC frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, React, AngularJS, Ember.js, Backbone.js)
