We are looking for someone with an insatiable curiosity to deeply understand user experiences and content consumption, and a passion to build a world-class, data-driven product. As a Business Intelligence (BI) analyst, you will be in charge of managing all SmartNews data for all regular key reporting. You will be partnering with Data Engineers to build the fundamental data solutions by designing customer friendly dashboards, reporting structures, data models and schemas, as well as data warehouse architecture to facilitate the data-driven decision-making process at SmartNews.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and product managers, who are improving our product and user satisfaction in a data-driven way
• Own and lead the design and implementation of dashboards end to end based on deep understanding of user requirements
• Surface metrics and data insights via dashboards and reports for both internal and external use
• Cooperate with data scientists and product managers to calculate KPIs and share them across the company
• Own and improve data pipelines that feed into dashboards and reports (while cooperating with data engineers)
• Own dashboarding tools and ensure they are being used in an efficient and organized way across the company
• Execute ad hoc data pulls as a SQL expert
• Perform benchmark analyses to help stakeholders understand trends

REQUIREMENTS

• Technical / quantitative university degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years experience as a BI analyst or Data Analyst
• Advanced SQL and experience writing complex queries
• Advanced data visualization skills and experience with dashboarding tools such as Tableau or Chartio
• Good communication skills with an ability to tell stories using dashboards and provide actionable insights

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience related to mobile apps or websites
• Programming experience (Python, R, Java, etc.), and experience with Unix
• Experience with data workflow tools like Azkaban or Airflow
