    Herr Foods Inc. is a privately owned salty snack food manufacturer and distributor based in Nottingham, PA and we think our 1500+ employees are pretty spectacular! This role has the primary responsibility is to package and check the quality of the Herr Foods Inc. products.

     

    HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm: up to 29 hours a week (additional hours as needed).

      

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Hand pack bags of product as they come off the production line.
    • Package or hand fill product into cartons, cans and specialty containers.
    • Assemble and label boxes.
    • Load empty cases in case packers.
    • Fill seasoning applicators in the cooking room.
    • Inspect products, product bags and cases of products for defects and proper seals; proper codes, dates and prices; package weigh and close finished cases or containers.
    • Alerts supervisor of any problems found during package inspection.
    • Must meet production quality and quantity goals.
    • Re-packs / re-works items as necessary.
    • May be required to hand pick defective product on production lines.
    • Clean and sanitize plant and plant equipment, including packaging machines, walls, floors, ovens, etc.
    • Must wear proper personal protective equipment for performing each duty.
    • Must attend all safety and SQF (Safe Quality Food) meetings and/or training sessions and be committed to working to these standards.
    • May be requested to temporarily cover Packer work assignments in other areas of production, including Chips, Allied, and Plant 2 according to business demands.

     

     

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must possess a stable work history with good references.
    • Must pass a pre-placement screening which tests the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must have vision corrected to 20/30 or better. The employee must have good balance on slippery surfaces. The employee must work with airborne seasonings, cardboard dust, work with latex gloves, work with cleaning solutions and work with hands in hot water. Must be able to maintain sustained concentration for up to three hours at a time.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • 2+ years in a customer-facing role
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience using AWS services
    • In-depth understanding of core AWS services and best practice deployments or design patterns
    • Ability to translate customer requirements and needs into proven design patterns
    • A passion for coding simple, clean and well-tested solutions
    • Understanding of designing and delivering with cost in mind
    • Familiarity with translating customer workloads into micro-service driven architectures
    • Hands-on experience automating Production-ready infrastructure and solutions
    • Strong, practical Linux or Windows system administration skills
    • Strong hands-on scripting knowledge and experience - e.g.: Python, Perl, BASH, PowerShell
    • Strong hands-on experience with at least one infrastructure configuration management platform - e.g.: AWS OpsWorks, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible
    • Baseline knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, firewalling, authentication and load balancing concepts
    • Basic knowledge of database management systems
    • Hands-on experience creating build scripts and/or deployment pipelines
    • Familiarity with continuous integration services and supporting tools- e.g.: CodePipeline, Jenkins
    • Familiarity with CloudFormation and JSON/YML
    • Hands-on experience with containerization platforms and server-less computing desired but not required - i.e.: Docker, AWS ECS, AWS Lambda
    • Hands-on experience with AWS ElasticBeanstalk desired but not required.
    • Basic experience creating RESTful services desired but not required.
    • Basic experience with one or more Content Management System a plus - e.g.: WordPress, Drupal, SharePoint, Sitecore
    • Proven ability to document, promote and present your work to other teams and to customers
    • Willingness and ability to collaborate across internal practices and with other team members
    • Ability to work within an organized and structured delivery-centric team
