  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

     

    Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Personal Care Attendant will assist in the care of residents by carrying out certain activities of daily living, recreational, dietary, and light housekeeping services in carefully selected situations.

     

    EDUCATION:

     

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Successful completion of a training program that meets standards set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Aging; OR experience listed below preferred.

     

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

     

    Minimum of one (1) year of Nurse Aide experience, including the ability to demonstrate competency in skill areas, may be substituted for training program listed above.

     

    Assists residents, as necessary, with oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, eating, dressing and weighing residents.  Cares for residents clothing (launders). 

    Monitors and assists residents as needed with medications, including the drawing of insulin.  Maintains accurate records of residents current medications.  Orders medication from pharmacy as needed. 

    Assists residents as needed with treatments, accu checks, blood sugars, and vital signs.  Accurately charts same.  Collects urine and stool specimens as necessary.  Applies prosthetics, orthotics, and splints as necessary. 

    Assists in dining room at mealtimes as needed, including serving resident meals and assisting with clean-up. At all meals, helps to push chairs in, remove and replace walkers and cut food for residents as needed. 

    Documents care rendered to residents daily.  Participates in report at change of shift.  Immediately reports all emergency and condition changes to the Resident Care Coordinator.

    Helps maintain supplies and equipment. 

    Transports residents to and from dining room and common area. 

    Attends training sessions and inservices as required by department and facility policy.  Reports and responds to unsafe environmental conditions and infractions of safety and infection control policies. 

    Changes linens and makes beds. 

    Assists with activities and programs to maintain and promote intellectual and social stimulation among assisted living residents. 

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Current Arizona Nursing License
    • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
    • AIDET knowledge preferred
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Minimum 2 year experience in a hospital setting
    • Ability to recognize, evaluates, solve problems and correct errors.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
    • Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
    • Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
    • Excellent teaching skills *
