    Title: Data Scientist Location: New York, NY Salary: $95,0000 - 115,000 Contact: Paul Chatlos, pchatlos@smithhanley.com Data Scientist Responsibilities: Actively contribute to client analytics engagements - consisting of both custom and packaged analytics solutions by -Participating in core delivery teams of the company and non-company (clients, third parties) resources that possess business, technology, and data science skill sets -Managing multiple work streams from acquisition and planning through successful delivery -Solving business problems through excellent decision-making and innovative, strategic ideas -Implementing solutions in either client or company environments Data Scientist Capabilities for Success: Candidate should demonstrate an ability to... -Understand business context of an analytics solution: Current state, problem, goals/objectives and their business value, obstacles, and impacted client constituents -Work with team(s) of analysts/data scientists/software engineers in performing and implementing high quality, sophisticated analysis in support of client engagements and internal projects -Apply multi-variable, complex statistical analysis and mathematical programming algorithms like linear programming, MIP, discrete optimization etc. on large data sets to gain useful insights into the data, detect trends and outliers/invalid data conditions present in the data sets -Develop custom scalable and sustainable integrated mathematical models by leveraging technical skills across Python, R, Spark, Hadoop and other big data tools and optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CBC, Cplex etc. -Develop working knowledge of new models and solution techniques which could be leveraged across projects -Contribute to the company proprietary solution library - by developing new capabilities in terms of mathematical models, solution frameworks, etc. -Work with internal company product development team members in designing analytical frameworks, as well as establishing development methodology and testing framework for KVAs -Facilitate a critical communications role by interacting with project owner (client team member), users (business domain), project team members and development personnel (technical domain) -Present analysis, models and insights as executive summary to client teams and internal groups -Contribute to the firm's knowledge capital by writing articles or presenting at industry conferences Data Scientist Job Requirements -Education and Experience: -PhD in Operations Research, Econometrics, or other applied mathematical discipline OR Masters in Operations Research, Econometrics, or other applied mathematical discipline with 3 years of experience OR -Master's degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Econometrics, Computer Science or other applied mathematical discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience on the following areas: math programming, probability, statistics, forecasting, artificial intelligence or other heuristics -Expertise in two or more of the following areas: math programming, probability, statistics, forecasting, machine learning, artificial intelligence or other heuristics -Strong background in implementing linear programming and mixed integer programming-based solutions -Expert programmer in two or more of the following: R, SAS, C++, CPLEX, GLPK, Gurobi, Matlab, Java, SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, PERL, Hadoop, C# -Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills -Ability to travel - can be required up to 80% or as little as 20% or less depending on project Data Scientist The ideal candidate will meet or exceed all of the above and -Possess industry experience in Automotive, Media & Entertainment, Communications, or Consumer Goods -Have experience with data mining and business reporting -Be passionate about analytics and helping companies deliver value through analytics
