Procurement Intern SMS Group of Companies - Detroit, MI 48209 $10.50 an hour - Internship JOB SUMMARY The Procurement Intern performs a variety of data entry and administrative tasks for the department. The internship program is a developmental program designed to provide college students an opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain hands on experience in working with a dedicated team to learn the procurement management side of supply chain from a growing fast-paced MRO (Maintenance Repair & Operations) services company. This internship is an opportunity for a talented college student to work in a cross-functional environment which provides exposure to the following; major sourcing corporations, corporate buying habits, freight carriers, inventory planning & replenishment, distribution, purchase order processing, materials handling, logistics, budgeting as well as overall comprehension of procurement management. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Use strategic thinking to approach problems and create solutions * Support inventory reporting and the management of mid/max levels * Develop and implement project plans; determine requirements, deliverables, resources, timing/milestones * Communicate findings and project status clearly and professionally through presentations * Provide comprehensive report out to management on assignments and other related projects * Input purchase orders from start-to-finish * Communicate with vendors, over phone, to obtain status updates on materials SUPERVISION Position reports to the Account Manager. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS * Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, data analytics, or supply chain management. * Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 1-3 years of undergraduate coursework.
