THEN READ ON! The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for the company’s SIOP/planning, purchasing and global supply chain efforts. The Director of Supply Chain will implement and maintain effective SIOP practices, procurement and spend strategies, contracts, inventory controls, processes, and policies. In addition, the Director of Supply Chain will manage MPS, MRP, logistics and transportation functions, as well as inter-company ordering systems to enhance efficiencies and elevate customer service levels. Our client offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, competitive bonus and a 401(k) plan!

     

    Immediate opening for a Director of Supply Chain who possesses:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, preferably with a concentration in supply chain management or related area of focus. Advanced degrees a plus.

    • At least 7 years of experience of purchasing, inventory and logistics management in a manufacturing and/or distribution business.

    • At least 3 years’ experience as a Master Production Scheduler and/or SIOP/S&OP leader

    • Experience in electrical power systems, electro-mechanical assembly preferred.

    • Experience in make to order (MTO), low-volume, high mix production environment and built-to-stock

      (BTS) production environment preferred.

    • Experience supervising a team and ability to manage using effective motivational metrics and setting

      expectations

    • Proven history of managing effective inventory management policies.

    • Previous experience working with ERP systems for supply chain management. Made to Manage (M2M)

      experience a plus.

    • Efficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    • Industry/Purchasing/Inventory certifications preferred.

    • Travel requirements (up to 25%): Will travel to vendors/suppliers, leadership meetings, training, etc;

      expectation to travel domestically and internationally to source new vendors; build and sustain relationships with current suppliers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities (Global Procurement):

    • Optimize the company's purchasing, and global supply chain efforts to create effective procurement and spend strategies, contracts, processes, and policies.

    • Create a world class supply base that delivers high-quality products and components on-time, and drives ongoing value creation.

    • Implement and maintain an active Purchase Price Variance (PPV) program with the goal of driving favorable impacts and improvements to gross margins.

    • In conjunction with our supply chain team across locations, research new, potential sources for supplies and/or services, evaluating quality, service and reliability, especially in low-cost country global regions. Work directly with sourcing consultants and/or suppliers to source new vendors as well as build/sustain relationships with current suppliers.

    • Create make vs. buy analysis and provide recommendations to management.

    • Manage logistics and transportation functions leveraging company logistics and transportation suppliers where possible, as well as inter-company ordering systems and inventory levels to enhance efficiencies and to elevate customer service levels.

    • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and act as the lead point of contact for all purchasing  and supply agreements for CA operations, setting performance criteria to ensure expectations are met.

    • Be available as a resource for other company locations in supplier relations.

    • Build a transparent system for sharing relevant metrics, which drives continuous improvement, utilizing “lean” initiatives and practices. Make recommendations to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of operations.

    • Review, analyze and clarify quotes from suppliers, vendors and contractors.

    • Stay abreast of, and report on, supply chain dynamics and trends such as tariffs, raw material cost trends, industry capacities, etc.

    • Be a key resource in areas of compliance, including Harmonized Tariff System codes, Schedule B codes, EAR/ECCN codes, Rohs, Reach, Green Passport, Conflict Minerals and other compliance programs.

    • Work with all departments to propose improvements to current purchasing systems that will improve vendor relationships and reduce costs, including (but not limited to) the following:

      -- Quality requirements and systems 

      -- Vendor rating systems

             -- Benchmarking

             -- Dua sourcing strategies

             -- New product launch processes

    • Professionally manage, develop and coach assigned team members to maximize their individual and team potential.

    • Complete all other projects and tasks assigned by management.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities  (SIOP)

    • Responsible for coordinating a consensus long term demand forecast. Working with Master Planner/Scheduler on maintaining a master schedule, and assisting in the daily production schedules along with driving adherence to the appropriate planning horizons.

    • Develops and/or maintains the plant(s) SIOP model inputs and outputs, and hold regular SIOP reviews with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Purchasing teams. Make adjustments to safety stocks, purchasing parameters and purchase orders to maintain steady flow of materials to meet changing demands.

    • Configures demand planning and reporting systems to identify alerts and exceptions within the forecasts and sales orders.

    • Conducts various gap and postmortem analyses between actual and forecasts, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP demand consensus agenda.

    • Sets inventory policies for raw material, work in process, and finished goods (as necessary) and takes the lead on driving slow moving/obsolete stock action plans. Oversee and direct the cycle count program.

    • Ensures inventory levels are appropriately reserved where safety stock positions are beneficial to overall performance (service level and working capital holding cost)

    • Establishes and maintains an available-to-promise lead time to sales and program management that considers current and future anticipated backlog or over capacity conditions into committed quote and orders.

    • Develops metrics to measure supplier performance to schedules (lead time, schedule attainment, and schedule adherence) and works with Operations to resolve issues in a timely manner.

    • Provides inventory projections and proactively identifies service level issues. Translates data and analysis into succinct actions, impacts and recommendations.

    • Positive attitude with a high level of accountability, personal drive, ambition, integrity.

    • Strong research, analytical, negotiating and problem-solving skills. Detail-orientated.
