    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Vice President, Human Resources (VP, HR) will be responsible for overseeing the overall human resources function focused on the planning, development, implementation and administration of the company's human resources strategies and programs. This includes compensation and benefits, training and development, talent acquisition and management, performance management and employee relations programs. S/He will establish long-range human resource strategies and practices for the organization to meet specific business objectives while shaping the organization for the future. The VP, HR ensures HR processes comply with regulatory and legal requirements to minimize risk to the organization.

    Immediate need for a Start-Up Biotech Firm, looking for a Vice President of Human Resources in San Diego, CA who possess:

    • A minimum of 15 years of progressive relevant HR experience with 10 years leading human resources teams. Experience working in a drug development or biotechnology organization with a key role in the commercialization and scaling process is highly preferable.
    • A bachelor's degree in Business Management, Human Resources or a related field; advanced degree such as MBA is preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in presenting at the executive and Board levels to obtain support and investment in HR initiatives. Experience working with the Compensation Committee is preferred.
    • Proven experience in leading change management initiatives through periods of rapid expansion.
    • Operate with the utmost ethics and discretion, earning trust with peers, executive leadership, and entire staff.
    • Able to understand and communicate effectively at all levels and present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity.
    • Significant experience developing, implementing and executing core HR tools and processes.
    • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to Human Resources, including broad based knowledge of global employment laws.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Lead human resources business initiatives that drive business goals and accelerate business results. Translate strategic and tactical business plans into practical and effective human resource practices.
    • Support and enable the organization by providing expertise on all HR aspects of the business.
    • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to drive corporate culture and core values and ensure they are embedded in all organizational activities.
    • Establish relationships with influence, built on trust with internal, client, and partner stakeholders to drive growth and scale of the team.
    • Lead and influence employee engagement initiatives with leaders, in order to address issues that will enhance overall performance and build the talent capability of the teams. Partner with leaders on talent needs of the organization and develop workforce plans.
    • Implement creative talent acquisition, development and performance programs to ensure a high performing workforce while driving employee engagement.
    • Ensure competitive and equitable compensation and benefits to attract and retain top talent.
    • Advise on best practices to achieve optimum results while maintaining compliance with Federal and Regulatory employment requirements.
