This position is responsible for maintaining payroll and benefit record requirements for accounting of salary, benefits, accruals and deductions! Our client offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and a 401(k) plan!

    Immediate opening for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist in Huntington Beach, CA who possesses:

    • Degree in related field, preferred not required

    • 5 Years Payroll & Benefits Experience, or equivalent of education and experience

    • Knowledge of General HR Principles, law, policies and procedures

    • ADP TotalSource, or ADP Workforce NOW Experience required

    • Experience working in an organization of 200 people

    • Experience working in a multi-state organization (Canada Huge plus)

    • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines related to assigned work

    • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices and methods

    • Skill in preparing detailed payroll reports

    • Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written

    • Attention to detail

    • Ability to meet deadlines

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Interprets, implements, and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to payroll and benefits

    • Ensures payroll database reflects current and accurate information; verifies and inputs pay and data changes

    • Calculates termination payments in compliance with company policy and federal and state laws; calculates adjustments, special pays, retroactive payments and overpayment of wages; issues manual payments as required

    • Reviews invoices and payments associated with payroll and benefits reporting 

    • Enters employee time sheets and timecard adjustments

    • Prepares reports and payments as required

    • Audits and maintains accurate benefit use and accruals

    • Manages 401K plan administration

    • Manages annual open enrollment period for all benefits

    • Ensures the timely production and distribution of W2s

    • Submits payroll and benefit reports to external agencies as requested

    • Conducts all new employee orientations, notifies new/existing employees on benefits, health, dental, medical, 401K, FMLA, Workers Compensation, and COBRA

    • Assists all employees with questions regarding health-related disability, leave without pay, FMLA, and Workers Compensation

    • Creates new hire personnel files

    • Maintains personnel and payroll records as set forth in records retention schedules

    • Assists all terminating/retiring employees with exit paperwork

    • Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel actions; confidential and sensitive performance problems; documents of non-renewal and termination actions, organizational plans, and legal actions where premature disclosure could disrupt activities within the HR office, or any company department or division

    • Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business

    • Contributes to a safe working environment by participating in all training and being prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur

    • Requires the kind of teamwork, supervision, and personal interaction, that cannot be had in a home office situation; therefore, regular and predictable on-site attendance is a job requirement

    • Other duties as assigned.
