    Looking to become an integral part of a primary manufacturer of polyclonal antiserum and calibrators for the turbidimetric (TIA) immunodiagnostic assay industry and for other IVD applications. READ ON!!! Our client has been in business for over 30 years and offers a custom contract antibody production program utilizing your own antigen in two USDA licensed facilities. Both of our clients brands manufacture polyclonal antisera for turbidimetric immunoassays and produce specific plasma protein calibrators and controls.

    Immediate need for a Senior Staff Technologist, Murrieta CA who possess:

    • Requires Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.), or higher, in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry and four to seven years+ of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Requires strong personal communication skills. Experience with Biorad NGC, AKTA (Pilot, Explorer) or similar chromatography equipment. Requires computer and technical writing skills, and the ability to maintain complete, clear, concise scientific records. Requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals. Requires the ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customer, employees, and suppliers.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Ensures antigen production meets quantity, quality and time requirements that are consistent and within the confines of the approved material budget.
    • Designs, prepares and validates, prior to transfer and scale up, adsorption columns that remove contaminants in antisera products.
    • Works together with Lab Manager to promote cross-training and increase the skill level of technicians.
    • Partners with R&D Manager to design, prepare and validate, prior to transfer and scaled up to commercial levels, adsorption columns that remove contaminants in antisera products.
    • Organizes and reports project progress to management. Prepares design plans for new products or processes, as well as, analyze and interpret chromatography data.
    • Responsible for troubleshooting difficult protein purifications. Experience in latex assay development is desirable.
    • Must be proficient in all types of column chromatography including immunoaffinity chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, and ion exchange.
    • Must have a fundamental understanding of native human serum proteins including physical characteristics, unique properties and based on that particular considerations related to purification.
    • Interacts with other departments related to process improvement and technical support of large columns and validation of such columns. Includes creating necessary controlled documentation for transfer of products or processes.
    • Compiles notebook histories of laboratory activities, including flowcharting of purification methods.
    • Provides Manager/Management with requested written updates on department projects.
    • Represents Manager of R&D in his/her absence by participating in technical meetings.
