Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, passionate about mechanical engineering design and will provide outstanding collaboration, product creativity, and attention to detail as they design and develop high-quality products and systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Creates mechanical designs of electronic equipment and interconnection systems per customer requirements, military specifications, and industry standards
- Creates documentation of sheet metal assemblies, machined part assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies and cable harness assemblies
- Gathers pertinent information, performs calculations, plans testing and validation of new products to ensure the design is fully compliant to design requirements and specifications
- Provide technical support to sales and manufacturing personnel to support new product development.
- Communicates with vendors and customers with the highest committed to ensure new products conform to design requirements and specifications
- Performs analysis and tests as required to validate product designs
- Evaluate existing designs and documentation for possible improvements in reliability and profitability
- Designs products in a profitable and efficient manner
- Participates in customer design reviews and supports weekly phone calls with the client during the developmental phase
Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in 3D CAD modeling; Solidworks experience is a plus
- Experience in mechanical design and electronic system packaging of electronic equipment and products
- Experience in sheet metal and machined part design and fabrication techniques
- Experience in cable harness design and documentation
- Familiarity with military specifications and military part selection to meet rugged environmental requirements.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing and Engineering Drawing Practices
- CFD and FEA software analysis experience is a plus
- Basic understanding of project schedules and ability to assist in creating schedules
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Self-starter, self-motivated, problem-solving team player
- Ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of similar work experience
