    Job Description

    The Jr. Programmer Analyst role is to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The software developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required.

     

    The Information Technology (IT) department for the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians (Soboba Casino Resort) supports a leading-edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever-changing technological advances in the Gaming industry business enterprises.  The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the IT staff's success in meeting the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department. 

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist other developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.
    • Plan phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects.
    • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications.
    • Research and document requirements of software users.
    • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards supporting procurement and development efforts.
    • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
    • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
    • Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs to correct errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
    • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas. 
    • Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the programming process's status. 
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
    • Install software products for end-users as required.
    • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of the company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.
    • Remove code script from the company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.
    • Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. 
    • Able to obtain guidance from the senior Programmer Analyst. 
    • Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.

    • Serve as a contributing Team Member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, enhancing the Casino's operations in all its business endeavors.

     

    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be 21 years of age, or older.

    • High School diploma or equivalent, required.

    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to promote positive and professional image.

    • Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field required.

    • Minimum of two (2) years of database administration experience

    • Equivalent combination of education and direct and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.

    • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including SQL, Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, Perl, iOS Family, and PHP.

    • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.

    • Extensive relational database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL & Oracle.

    • Thorough understanding of platforms such as Infor, ADP, Kronos, Micros, Agilysys, Opera IGT, and Aristocrat Oasis preferred.

    • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies.

    • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.

    • Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans.

    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license. 

    • Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
