    Soccer Shots Nashville:

    Soccer Shots Nashville stretches from Wilson, Sumner, Robertson, and Rutherford Counties to Williamson and Southern Davidson Counties. Offices are located in Nashville, TN. Soccer Shots Nashville is supported by Soccer Shots DC/MD/VA headquartered in Laurel, MD including but not limited to human resources, operations, payroll, and professional development. Soccer Shots Nashville offers programs at nearly 70 locations, serves over 1,000 participants, and employs approximately 10 part-time coaches.

    ACADEMIC OBJECTIVES:

    The student intern will be required to handle and present him/herself in a professional manner, consistently arriving on time to assigned office hours, coaching sessions, and events. S/he will be expected to assist in the overall execution of a Soccer Shots season and participate in instructing Soccer Shots sessions (50% of your internship), giving him/her experience in coaching youth and working with parents. Assignments may be given based on your interests in the following areas:

    Assignments may be given to you according to your availability and location in the Nashville area.

    OBTAINING ACADEMIC/COLLEGE CREDIT

    This internship experience may or may not already be an approved academic credit internship with your school. Please make sure to notify us immediately if you are seeking academic credit through your school for this experience. With your help, Soccer Shots will work directly with your school’s registrar, academic advisor, or internship department to help you achieve academic credit for this internship experience.Soccer Shots does not require a specific Major, however this internship is best fit for students in the field of:

    Coaching Soccer Shots sessions will be 50% of your internship including travel to locations

    The intern will be REQUIRED to have their own personal vehicle

    Prior soccer experience is not required. We only require the passion for positively impacting children’s lives.

    Leadership/Management:

    · Execute the overall scheduled Soccer Shots season

    · Participate in interview/evaluation process

    Sales/Marketing/Customer Service:

    · Run Soccer Shots demonstrations

    · Attend promotional events

    · Participate in business development with Director of Development

    · Maintain working relationship with center directors

    Administrative/Support:

    · Create, print, and distribute registration forms and promotional materials

    · Prepare and keep record of equipment sets and gear for instructors

    · Prepare direct mail and other marketing documents

    · Prepare and distribute seasons prizes and certificates

    · Data entry

    Professional Development:

    · Attend team meetings and all-staff meetings, as available

    · Submit final report to Soccer Shots on experience

    · Attend Management lessons provided in-house by our Regional Director

    PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT/WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

    Functions in a temperature controlled office environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to sit, stand and walk throughout an extended work day (8 – 10 hours); position requires use of fingers, hands and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work; position may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. The standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers and phone conversations. Position may occasionally have the need to be exposed to an inside/outside sports environment.

    Functions in an inside/outside sports environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to run, stop, stoop, bend (a physical, exercise type regimen) in a minimum of 40 minute increments per session. Position requires use of hands, arms, legs and feet and may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Moderate gymnasium like noises are associated with this position as well as excellent vision skills (with or without correction.) EVALUATION METHOD

    A performance evaluation will occur at the conclusion of the first term and at the conclusion of the internship placement. The evaluation will consider the following general areas of professional operations, and specific intern goals within each area:

    Continuing formal and informal supervision will occur between the intern and the onsite supervisors. Clear and open communication will occur on an ongoing and as needed basis, at a minimum of 30 minutes per scheduled work day with site supervisors.

    INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE/COMPENSATION

    The Soccer Shots internship will encompass a minimum of 240 hours over a 12-week period. The internship will include twelve consecutive 20-hour (minimum) work weeks for the duration of the internship. During the first four weeks of the internship, the intern will be working closely with the Program Director on preparing for the upcoming season -- scheduling instructors, running demos, and promoting the season. Once the season starts, the student intern’s focus will shift to executing the program by coaching 50% of their total hours of work per week.

    The intern will be compensated $10/hr.

    Internship positions are available for the following time periods:

    Winter Season—mid-December through mid-March

    Spring Season—mid-February/early March through May

    Summer Season—mid-May through mid-August

    Fall Season—mid-August/September through November
