    COUs LLC: Soccer Shots Company Owned Units (COUs) were established in DC/MD/VA. COUS stretch from Harford Co, MD to Prince William Co, VA. COUs offices are located in Laurel, MD, Fairfax, VA & Lutherville, MD. Soccer Shots COUs work closely with Soccer Shots Franchising National Headquarters in Middletown, PA. COUs offers programs at nearly 400 locations, serves over 24,000 participants, and employs approximately 100 part-time coaches and 22 full-time employees.

    Reports to: Executive Director of Company Owned Units

    Objective: The Director of Accounting & HR (DAHR) oversees all functions of the Human Resources, Accounting, and Office Management department. The position directly manages an Office Manager (OM) and a Recruiter & Networking Coordinator (R&N) which serve to support these functions. DAHR will work closely with Regional Directors (RDs) and will develop human resource and accounting strategies in order to support the organization’s overall strategic goals, vision and core values. The Director of Accounting & HR reports to the Executive Director of Company Owned Units (COUs) in DC/MD/VA and must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and Company information.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Accounting

    Manages the A/P & A/R processes

    Responsible for cash flow management & analysis

    Provides monthly, quarterly, annual, ad hoc financial reporting & analysis

    Leads organization through annual budgeting process and holds others accountable to their budget

    Accounting software/general ledger management- ensures all transactions are properly accounted for and reconciled according to GAAP/accrual-based accounting methods

    Works closely with the Soccer Shots Franchising Director of Accounting & HR and owners

    HR and Franchise Compliance:

    Manages key processes related to employee onboarding, training, performance management and exit interviews

    Assists with administration of employee benefits

    Maintains complete personnel files for employees

    Manages and responds to employee surveys and feedback to earn top tier employer status

    Provides coaching to management in a variety of employee related issues

    Manages bi-weekly company payroll process

    Maintains corporate compliance –insurance, background checks, etc.

    Researches key laws and regulations that impact the business

    Works closely with Soccer Shots Franchising Director of Accounting & HR and owners

    Office Management

    Provides strategic direction and support to Office Manager

    COU Leadership Team Support

    Assists leadership team with ad hoc tasks and projects

    Serves as a member of the leadership team and is charged with setting and carrying out the annual strategic plan and goals

    Required education/experience:

    Bachelor’s degree required in a related field (accounting, finance, human resources, business, management, etc.)

    5 years of directly related experience

    2 of public accounting experience preferred

    SPHR / PHR Certification preferred

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

    Accounting software experience

    Role/Classification/Schedule/Location: This position is a full-time, exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours of work per week. Typical/expected working hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:30am and 5:00pm. On occasion, it may be necessary to work additional hours, including some weekday evenings and some Saturdays to meet deadlines and to exceed goals. This position will work out of the Laurel, MD office, unless otherwise approved.
