Soccer Shots Inland Empire East is looking for an Early Education Soccer Coach in the Greater Inland Empire area!

All Soccer Shots Employees must represent our core values:

    We care

    We own it

    We pursue excellence

    We are stronger together

    We are candid

    We grow

The ideal instructor MUST meet the following criteria:

Be FUN: Magnetic personality. Shy is NOT in your DNA. Loves people, especially kids! Acting silly and being "on stage' is what you were born to do. Thinking on your feet and improvising is something that excites you.

Experience with YOUNG children: Must be able to easily engage and interact with 2-8 year olds, and have experience doing so.

Experience with adults in a professional setting: Can have professional conversations and good eye contact with site directors, school staff, parents and families as well as our leadership team.

Availability - Most of our sessions take place Mon.-Fri. 9am - 12pm, after school hours 3-6pm, and weekend mornings. Coaches need to be available weekend mornings and some weekdays and evenings.

Responsible: Arrives at least 30 minutes early to public programs and 20 minutes to school programs; comes prepared with lesson plans memorized from provided curriculum; can handle a group of 10 or more young children (ages 2-8); keeps accurate attendance; well organized.

Professional: Neat in appearance; alert, friendly and courteous with daycare & school staff/directors/principals and parents; self-assured and confident.

Enthusiastic: Must enjoy interacting with children; able to connect and communicate with children on their level. Our coaches are outgoing, animated, silly - not afraid to lead a sing-along if it's in the weekly curriculum.

Soccer: Soccer experience is a plus, however, if you are great with children and have some basic familiarity with the game, this should suffice. Our trainers will teach you more and have you looking like a pro in no time!

Reliable PERSONAL transportation and valid driver's license: reliance on public transportation, ride sharing, or alternative forms of transportation is unsustainable for this type of business. Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle. Please expect a decent amount of driving at times for this job, as you will need to travel between our various field locations throughout the Greater Inland Empire East area - Fontana/Redlands/Yucaipa/Beaumont.

CA State-Required Clearances: Candidate must be able to provide clear CA state clearances and clear FBI fingerprint clearance upon acceptance of an offer of employment.

    Responsibilities

Coaching - responsible for coaching session ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour per session.

Coaching - responsible for running demo classes at new and prospective locations.

Curriculum review - responsible for having thorough knowledge of the Soccer Shots curriculum and will train and evaluate coaches in its implementation.

Communication - Prompt responses with leadership and team communication. Professional, friendly and fun communication with children, families, school staff and directors.

    Preferred Experience and Education

Knowledge of early childhood education / physical education / recreation / athletics and development best practices preferred.

Completion of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, or in the process of taking ECE classes with 6 ECE units completed.

Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.

Work Hours During seasons, expected working hours will vary. Soccer Shots operates year-round. We partner with preschools, child care centers, after school programs, public parks and city recreation programs. Sessions can run early morning, mid-day and in the evening.

    Physical / Work Environment Requirements

Position functions in an outside sports environment a good portion of the time which may include temperatures of extreme heat or cold, depending on time of year. Must be able to work outside within the elements.

Work requires ability to run, stop, stoop, bend (a physical, exercise type regimen) in a minimum of 40-minute increments per session. Position requires use of hands, arms, legs, and feet and may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Moderate gymnasium like noises are associated with this position as well as excellent vision skills (with or without correction).

This position requires driving in and around the Greater Inland Empire East area. Will be required to drive to multiple sites to coach sessions and to fulfill other duties.

**IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: This is a slightly atypical working scenario in that you will have occasional in-person contact with the rest of the Soccer Shots team at times. Many times you are an extension of the staff at the schools we partner with, representing Soccer Shots. Coaches work remotely much of the time and do not meet at a designed office; as such, we need a reliable person who can work alone, be professional, is self-motivated, self-regulated, driven, and goal-oriented. Much of our communication takes place via email, text messaging, phone calls, and online video conferencing. Given this, the candidate MUST be motivated, organized, communicative, and not afraid to be self-sufficient. This position is NOT suitable for those who require a significant amount of oversight or highly structured work environment.
