    Objectives / Responsibilities

The objective of this internship will include photography and videography projects which will help to bolster the online presence and communication efforts of Soccer Shots Pittsburgh.

Photography - travel to our Pittsburgh-area locations to photograph live play during our soccer sessions will be required. Experience with photography of moving subjects / sports is preferred.

Videography - travel to our Pittsburgh-area locations to video live play during our soccer sessions will be required. Experience with videography and video editing / filmography is required, as the intern will be tasked with creating videos for use in our marketing and promotional efforts, and for distribution to parents and clients.

Interns will be required to provide their own photo / video equipment and photo / video editing software.

    Requirements

Intern must have their own reliable, personal vehicle for transportation to/from our locations, which are located throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.

Intern must have their own camera and equipment for photography and videography assignments.

Intern must have access to software for the editing and proofing of photos and the editing and creation of videos for professional marketing and communication purposes.

Intern must be available during weekday mornings (not every weekday morning, but the more weekday morning availability, the better), as this is when the sessions to be photographed / filmed are scheduled to take place.

Please Note: This is a slightly atypical position in that you will have only very occasional in-person contact with the rest of the Soccer Shots team. Many of our staff members work remotely; as such, much of our communication takes place via email, text messaging, phone calls, and online video conferencing. Given this, the candidate MUST be motivated, organized, communicative, and self-regulating. This position is NOT suitable for those who require a significant amount of oversight or a socially-driven work environment.

    Goals & Evaluation method:

A performance evaluation will occur at the conclusion of the first term and at the conclusion of the internship placement. The evaluation will consider the following general areas of professional operations, and specific intern goals within each area:

    Core Skills

    Attitude

    Effort

    Initiative

    Productivity

    Communication

    Professionalism

Continuing formal and informal supervision will occur between the intern and the onsite supervisors. Clear and open communication will occur on an ongoing and as needed basis.

    Internship Structure and Compensation:

The internship is very flexible schedule-wise; this is not a structured, in-office internship with a set number of hours per week. Each internship is unique depending on time of year, program needs, and candidates' interests and abilities.

This internship is unpaid, but school credit may be offered if your particular school’s internship requirements are met.

If coaching duties are added on (interns may also coach for us on a part-time basis), time spent coaching will be compensated for at a rate of $18 per session for head coaches and $10 per session for assistant coaches.

    Internship Professional Development Value:

Soccer Shots is a leader in leaving a lasting, positive impact on the youth it serves. Through the game of soccer, children learn creative play and character skills. With supervision from the Program Director and the Owner, the intern will be exposed to a successful and nationally-recognized franchise system and the inner workings of a small business while increasing proficiency in delivering an athletic program to youth.

    Internship Academic and Experiential Objectives:

The student intern will be required to handle and present him/herself in a professional manner, consistently arriving on time to assigned office hours, coaching sessions, and events. When applicable, the student intern will also participate in instructing Soccer Shots sessions, giving him/her experience in coaching youth and working with parents.

    Obtaining Academic/College Credit

This internship experience may or may not already be an approved academic credit internship with your school. Please make sure to notify us immediately if you are seeking academic credit through your school for this experience. With your help, Soccer Shots will work directly with your school’s registrar, academic advisor, or internship department to help you achieve academic credit for this internship experience.

As stated, the internship has the opportunity to qualify for college credits, but there are also paid portions of internship as well (if coaching is done).
