Our dynamic team thrives in a fast-paced environment, and we’re looking for a Compliance Officer to join us in ensuring our operations align with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Role Overview:
As our Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our organization by ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. You’ll develop and manage our compliance program, conduct risk assessments, and work cross-functionally to maintain a culture of integrity and accountability. In a startup environment, you’ll need to be versatile, hands-on, and ready to take on diverse responsibilities to support our growth. This will be 1099 for the first 3 months and if you are a good fit, we will have an option to recruit you full-time as remote or help relocate you to the New York Area.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and Implement Compliance Programs: Design, roll out, and maintain a robust compliance framework tailored to the social casino industry, ensuring adherence to gaming regulations, data privacy laws
• Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
• Monitoring and Auditing: Oversee ongoing monitoring of business activities, perform internal audits, and ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations and internal policies.
• Policy Development: Create, update, and enforce internal policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and industry best practices.
• Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on compliance obligations, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Investigations and Reporting: Investigate potential compliance violations, document findings, and report to leadership with actionable recommendations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with legal, product, marketing, and operations teams to ensure compliance is embedded in all aspects of the business.
• Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate submissions of reports, licenses, or other required documentation.
• Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep up-to-date with evolving regulations in the social casino and gaming industries, advising leadership on emerging compliance risks and opportunities.
• Wear Multiple Hats: Take on additional responsibilities as needed, such as supporting legal reviews, vendor management, or operational initiatives in our fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related role, ideally in gaming, social casino, or a regulated industry.
• Strong understanding of gaming regulations, data protection laws, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
• Proven ability to develop and implement compliance programs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with experience conducting risk assessments and audits.
• Strong communication and training skills to educate diverse teams on compliance matters.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to shifting priorities in a startup setting.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and solving potential issues.
• Familiarity with social casino platforms, online gaming, or fintech is a plus.
