    Job Description

    Are you an experienced digital storyteller who thrives on building vibrant online communities and growing social followings and engagement through strategic planning? The Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is seeking a dynamic Social Media Specialist to lead the charge in advancing the mission of IUF and the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA) through strategic content, meaningful engagement, and creative campaigns. You’ll develop compelling social media experiences that spark connection, drive pride, and inspire philanthropic action for alumni, donors, and friends of IU.

    In this newly created role, you will own social media strategy by designing engaging campaigns, creating high-quality content, and collaborating with internal and campus partners to elevate the IU brand. You will manage day-to-day platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, generating awareness, boosting event attendance, and increasing engagement. You’ll stay at the forefront of industry and social trends, optimize campaigns for performance, and deliver reports to inform future strategy.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Expert knowledge of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
    • Strong holistic digital marketing and digital media knowledge.
    • A background in metrics and results-driven optimization.
    • Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
    • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
    • Impeccable attention to detail.
    • Self-starter approach with a positive attitude, and a drive to consistently meet and exceed objectives and contribute to the success of an organization.
    • An understanding of publishing cycles and a working awareness of all major content channels.
    • Ability to convey channel success and opportunities to senior stakeholders in a clear, jargon-free, and compelling manner.
    • A highly developed view of contemporary culture and understanding of the leading content platforms and channels.
    • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics/analytics.
    • Experience with graphic design, photo editing, and publishing is preferred.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
    • 4 years of social media and community management experience (designing effective and proven content), with direct experience communicating with community members and social followers.
    • 2+ years of paid ad experience.

    Additional Information

    Work samples showcasing your professional experience with content creation will be required as part of the interview process. This position is based out of our Bloomington, Indiana office and offers a hybrid schedule, with three days per week required in office. The compensation range for this position is $64,000.00 - $68,000.00 annually.
