Social Recreation Director
Department: Programs Reports to: Branch Director
Position Summary
The Social Recreation Director plans, leads, and evaluates Clubhouse social and recreational programs that promote teamwork, engagement, and youth development. This role ensures programs are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable, while supervising staff and volunteers, maintaining equipment, and managing program budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development
Plan and oversee social recreation programs that support BGCO’s Youth Development Outcomes.
Establish program objectives consistent with BGCO’s mission and organizational goals.
Oversee day-to-day program activities, ensuring participation, instruction, and constructive feedback to develop members’ skills.
Demonstrate leadership to ensure the safety, conduct, and positive development of members.
Continually evaluate programs to ensure responsiveness to member needs and consideration of gender and cultural diversity.
Operations & Budget Management
Maintain safe, well-organized program environments, ensuring proper equipment maintenance and adherence to health and safety standards.
Monitor program expenses and maintain spending within approved budgets.
Oversee proper record keeping, including attendance, activity logs, and participation outcomes.
Support implementation of special events and collaborative programs across departments.
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
Provide direction and support to program staff and volunteers
Ensure staff and volunteers uphold BGCO standards for safety, inclusion, and youth engagement.
Marketing & Community Engagement
Promote Club programs through schedules, announcements, flyers, and communication with members and families.
Build relationships with members, families, schools, and community partners to enhance participation and program visibility.
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Branch Director to meet organizational needs.
May occasionally transport members or materials using a Club vehicle.
Work Environment & Requirements
Regular presence at the Clubhouse during program hours, with some evening or weekend activities as needed.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently throughout the day.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Must pass a background check and fingerprint verification.
