We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Civics & Social Studies Teacher to teach students in grades 3 through 9. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of civics, government, U.S. history, geography, and current events, and can make these subjects meaningful and relevant for students of varying age levels.
This teacher should be capable of leading thoughtful discussions, encouraging critical thinking, and maintaining strong classroom management while fostering respect, responsibility, and civic awareness.
Responsibilities
Teach civics and social studies to students in grades 3–9
Develop engaging lessons in government, citizenship, geography, U.S. history, world history, and current events
Help students understand civic responsibility, leadership, and respectful discussion
Encourage analytical thinking, reading comprehension, and written communication through social studies instruction
Maintain strong classroom management and structured routines
Differentiate instruction for varying learning levels and age groups
Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate records
Communicate professionally with parents and school leadership
Participate in school meetings, events, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, Social Studies, or related field (required)
Florida teaching certification preferred, but not required
Strong knowledge of civics, government, and social studies content
Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to engage elementary and middle school students through interactive instruction
Strong written and verbal communication skills
