About Us Sock Monkey Museum is a small, family friendly Museum holding the Guinness World Record title for the largest handmade Sock Monkey Collection in the world! We share the history of the Sock Monkey doll and its ties to Illinois and American History.

We have a unique Gift Shop, and a Workshop, where guests can make their own Sock Monkeys.

Job Summary

We are seeking a professional and responsible person to join our team. You will be responsible for greeting visitors as they come in, giving tours in our Museum when needed, and ensuring all visitors have a fun and positive experience. You will work behind the register ringing up sales, assisting guests with questions and purchases. You may assist with parties, tour groups, interacting with customers and helping them with our stuffable animals during their visits.

There would be flex hours with varying schedule - weekdays and weekends.

The ideal candidate is energetic, outgoing, friendly, can multi-task, and has fantastic people skills and a passion for making people happy. The museum is located upstairs. If you want to work in a fun and supportive environment, reach out today!

Responsibilities

Comply with all operating standards and procedures pertaining to the daily operation and management of the Museum/Store

Greet customers warmly and develop rapport to encourage repeat business

Give Museum Tours

Keep Gift Shop stocked and all areas clean

Foster a positive work environment

Qualifications

College degree preferred

Previous retail management experience is a plus

Competent computer skills

Public speaking skills as plus for giving Museum tours

Sewing skills a plus, but not required

Excellent team building and leadership skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
