    The Engineering Manager will provide manufacturing and industrial engineering processing and support for the plant, and will manage production supervisors and technical associates to meet customer and company expectations.  The direction of these efforts should be toward achievement of production efficiencies, profit and balanced growth within the approved objectives of the company. 

     

    • Ensure the efficient and high quality production of customer parts through engineering best practices and the effective management of production associates and processes.
    • Plan and implement safe, efficient, and effective manufacturing processes in to production.
    • Monitor and direct corrections to production process/layout to meet or exceed production requirements, cost effectiveness and improve safety.
    • Lead Lean/Six Sigma and 5S manufacturing initiatives.
    • Provide technical support for mold processing and improvement.
    • Improve overall performance of the technical team by measurable standards.
    • Participate in and support initiatives and corrective actions related to safety.
    • Assist in quoting new custom and proprietary business.
    • Participate in the ECR process, insuring proper documentation, approvals and action.
    • Manage special projects from manager and manage/oversee subcontractors.
    • Develop and monitor Engineering department budget to achieve best results.
    • Lead cost reduction projects
    • Maintain documentation necessary for all projects.
    • Recommend product design changes to sales staff and/or customer to improve cost, efficiency, quality, production and labor cost.
    • Propose, with justification, and be responsible for the selection and acquisition of new plant machinery upon approval of capital expenditure requisition.
    • Provide technical, professional and engineering advice in meetings with customers on potential product issues including quality, manufacturing, staffing, or efficiency to meet or exceed customer satisfaction while maintaining company profitability.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

    Required Skills

    • Strong knowledge of plastic processing machinery, equipment and design.
    • Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field. Black Belt Certification desirable.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Able to communicate concepts and complex issues in an understandable and supportive manner  
    • Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field. Black Belt Certification desirable.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Able to communicate concepts and complex issues in an understandable and supportive manner

    Required Experience

    • 4 year degree in Engineering field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • 2 to 4 years management experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Three years of experience in an engineering function.
    • Experience in a plastic manufacturing operation, preferably injection or blow molding.
