    Level 1 Machine Operator Work Environment: Softex Paper is a family-owned international corporation with a small company feel. Members of the Softex Team work together to produce the highest quality paper towels and toilet paper. The warehouse and modern, clean and bright. Renovations are currently underway to expand the facility and improve insulation and ventilation to ensure employees have a comfortable working environment. Job Requirements: • Basic understanding of all products and product specifications. • Ability to learn to operate most basic touch screen controls on designated machine. • If assigned to the Gambini machine, operators will be expected to load large rolls of paper called “parent rolls” (approx. 3,000lbs) with the use of a crane into the machine to be converted to toilet tissue or towel. • Ability to distinguish different grades of “parent rolls” paper (i.e. towel, tissue, premium). • Complete necessary paperwork for designated machine. Gambini operators are required to record the roll number and weight of each “parent roll” used per shift (approx. 10-20). Each roll will be labeled. • Assist with basic maintenance on designated machine. • Identify quality imperfections and perform quality checks. If a parent roll isn’t in perfect condition do not use it. • Practice good housekeeping/keep work area clean and organized. • Comply with all company rules and regulations • Ability to stand for long periods of time. Shifts are 12 hours long. • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. To load “parent rolls” onto the crane for the Gambini, a metal, heavy core plug must be inserted into the roll. Typically two employees work together at the Gambini. • Ability to bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull repetitively. • Complete understanding of all company policies and procedures Job Responsibilities/Position Summary: • If assigned to the Gambini machine, operators will be expected to load large rolls of paper called “parent rolls” (approx. 3,000lbs) with the use of a crane into the machine to be converted to toilet tissue or towel. • To load “parent rolls” onto the crane for the Gambini, a metal, heavy core plug must be inserted into the roll. Typically two employees work together at the Gambini. • A machine operator must be able to distinguish different grades of “parent rolls” paper (i.e. towel, tissue, and premium). • Gambini operators are required to record the roll number and weight of each “parent roll” used per shift (approx. 10-20). Each roll will be labeled. A simple template worksheet is provided each shift. • If machines are down to change products or for maintenance, employees will be expected to assist with other tasks throughout the warehouse, such as cleaning and organization. Productive workers are typically our most successful workers. Company Safety: • Steel-toe shoes (sneakers or boot style) and safety glasses must be worn at all times in the warehouse. • Due to the flammable nature of our product, NO SMOKING is allowed in the facility. It is a safety and quality concern. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas. Violation of this rule may result in immediate termination. Ideal Candidate Traits: • Punctuality is extremely important. Being on time sets the tone for raises, promotion, etc. • Self-starter! If the employee is able to meet the skills/responsibilities associated with the position, a salary increase is typically given at this time. Performance reviews/pay evaluations are then given annually. Employees who excel at their position may be given additional reviews and wage raises throughout the year.
