    The Opportunity

    • Development of products, tools, and automations using various programming languages
    • Data visualization and analysisusing a variety of internal and external products and tools
    • User interface development including specification, workflow mapping and supporting user experience approach
    • Develop data management and analysis solutions to support Planning and Infrastructure projects
    • Work with internal technical and domain experts to design and implement data management and analytical solutions and propose unique solutions to complex real-world problems
    • Support data management processes including collection , data cleaning, and analysis
    • Support preparation of presentation and documentation of solutions to various audiences

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Effective skills in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, C# or C++
    • Exposure to emerging technologies (i.e. AI, ML, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality)
    • Authoring code for the automation of processes and workflows, particularly with knowledge of Python libraries
    • Basic understanding of git, such as local vs remote, how to push and pull from repos
    • Documenting workflows, creating standardized process documentation, and writing data processes 
    • Interest in engineering standards and practices, best practices for software development
    • Innovative problem solver, ability to think 'outside the box' 
    • Enjoys working as part of a friendly and supportive team 
    • Curiosity, personal drive and technical know-how
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Candidate must be eligible to work in the US without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role    

    Preferred:

    • Digital aptitude for learning new data and automation software packages such as PowerBI, Power Automate 
    • Database exposure, querying or development, is a plus
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, what they do and how they are useful

    • Charge4Fleets - Adopting technologies to decarbonize transport with zero emission buses (https://www.arup.com/projects/driving-the-future-zero-emissions-buses).
    • To help urban planners and city authorities bring down the temperature – the urban heat island effect (UHI) – Arup has developed UHeat. It’s a new digital tool that uses a combination of satellite imagery and open-source climate data to analyze huge areas of cities.     • Computational design is a field that involves the use of computer algorithms, simulations, and data analysis to support and enhance the design process. It enables designers to generate, explore, visualize, and store vast design spaces, find better solutions to complex design problems, and make informed decisions based on data-driven insights. We use computational design to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the design process, and to deliver optimal results for our clients, communities and the environment. https://www.arup.com/services/digital/computational-design
