What is Glimmer

Glimmer Fics (glimmerfics.com) is a platform for interactive fanfiction, built for and by people who love to read. We started Glimmer because we want to give people a way to escape into the stories of their dreams, and play those stories as the main character. We're doing this by leaning into the incredible creative energy of fandom, particularly by focusing on the massive and underserved female fanfiction/romance market. Glimmer stories allow players to develop their own personalized relationships with characters over epic story arcs. Our special sauce is Glimmer's powerful Story Engine, which provides a layer of AI tools that empower writers to craft interactive stories without needing a million dollars or a professional studio.

Glimmer has $2.9M of funding from investors including Hidden Capital, Stan Vishnevskiy (CTO of Discord), Brendan Iribe (ex-CEO of Oculus), Peter Sellis (Head of Product, Discord). Since our December '24 launch, we've hit 30K MAU, we're growing FAST (35% w/o/w), and our users are obsessed (average session length is 50 min). Who are we?**

The co-founders met at Harvard ('12) where they bonded over their love of books in English Literature classes. The CEO was the 2nd PM at Discord, and led product for Discord's Gaming org. The CPO is an experienced writer with decades of fanfiction writing and fandom roleplaying experience.

What are we looking for

We are hiring a Founding Engineer for Glimmer Fics (the CEO will also continue to code). We're looking for a fullstack engineer with 5+ years experience, an interest in working with AI, and preferably with some consumer startup experience. If you want to shape the future of storytelling, fandom, and AI consumer products (while also reading the wildest stories imaginable), come join us!

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain code across the stack (backend, frontend, everything in between)
• Build and maintain our apps across platforms
• Build player and author-facing experiences
• Work with us on Glimmer's secret weapon - our AI-powered Story Engine
• Drive company strategy and direction w/ the cofounders

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience (senior+ level)
• AI LLM experience (not required, but should be interested)
• Startup experience is desirable
• Interest in stories, narrative games, webcomics, visual novels, or other media formats is a bonus
