About the Role
The Software Engineer, Staff (UX/UI Designer) will be a key contributor developing the user interface and workflows for the EnChannel Medical 3D mapping system. As part of the Research & Development (R&D) team, this role collaborates with UX Product Design and Software development teams to create user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces for healthcare providers that improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, effective, and visually appealing end-user interfaces.
- Create innovative solutions and prototypes to drive design concepts forward.
- Document design specifications to clearly communicate design intent and guide software engineering in UI design implementation and enhance UX/UI in collaboration with peers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align on new features and expectations of success.
- Assist in software use testing to evaluate usability of the UX/UI.
- Influences some of the overall project goals through product design methods.
- Work with software, algorithm, and clinical teams to capture requirements and understand how clinical workflows translate to user flows.
- Provide design documentation that aligns with regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and industry standards.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
Below are the minimum education, training, skills and professional experience required to perform the role.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in UX/UI design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent training and professional experience.
- Proficiency in UX/UI design tools (Figma, industry standards) and product design methods.
- Experience working with and contributing to design systems.
- Strong understanding of user experience and interaction design patterns for digital software products, particularly embedded systems.
- Knowledgeable about human centered design principles, methods, and accessibility guidelines.
- Experience building interactive prototypes to validate use cases, flows, and interactions to influence design decisions.
- Effective communication skills to present design concepts and deliverables clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional listening skills with the ability to synthesize constructive feedback from stakeholders, build relationships, and promote teamwork with a learning mindset.
- Familiarity with software development processes and a collaborative approach working with software and algorithm teams to implement UX/UI requirements.
- Understand how UX/UI design solves for user needs and broader product goals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities on multiple projects.
- Desire to make an impact in healthcare through human-centered design.
- Portfolio showcasing design work.
- Familiar working in health, medical imaging, or complex professional products is desirable.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum new hire pay for the position located in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location, additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
