Our client, a well-established organization with operations across multiple business sectors, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join their onsite leadership team in Erlanger, KY.
This leadership role is responsible for managing and developing a high-performing software engineering team while driving the design, development, and delivery of scalable business applications. The Software Engineering Manager will partner with business leaders, product teams, architects, and third-party vendors to deliver technology solutions that support critical business operations. Success in this position requires strong technical leadership, excellent people management skills, and a passion for mentoring engineers while embracing modern development practices, including AI-enabled technologies and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers through hiring, performance management, career development, and ongoing technical leadership.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable software applications.
Partner with business stakeholders, architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Manage software development projects, priorities, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
Oversee relationships with third-party technology vendors and ensure successful delivery of externally supported solutions.
Establish and maintain software engineering standards, development best practices, governance processes, and code quality expectations.
Provide technical leadership regarding application architecture, software design, system integrations, and emerging technologies.
Promote software quality through code reviews, testing strategies, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support Agile software development practices and encourage adoption of modern engineering tools, automation, and AI-enabled technologies where appropriate.
Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve development efficiency, scalability, and long-term business value.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience leading software engineering or application development teams.
Proven experience delivering complex software solutions in a business-driven environment.
Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.
Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), software engineering best practices, and application architecture.
Experience working with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Java, .NET, Python, or similar technologies.
Experience leading engineering teams using modern development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical and business priorities.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity and software delivery.
Compensation:
Base salary in the 130k-150k/year range
Up to 20% annual bonus
401k with company matching contributions and profit sharing
