    Job Description:

    Position Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled SolarWinds Observability Administrator to manage and enhance our monitoring environment using SolarWinds Orion and complementary tools. The ideal candidate will ensure reliable system visibility, rapid issue detection, and effective response coordination across our IT infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Node & Access Management

    Add, modify, and decommission nodes in Orion.

    Create and manage user IDs, access rights, and permission levels.

    1. Monitoring Configuration & Maintenance

    Design and maintain meaningful views, dashboards, reports, and alerts tailored to user and departmental needs.

    Create, update, and manage application templates for effective monitoring.

    1. Daily System Health & Preventative Maintenance

    Perform daily health checks of the Orion environment (polling, data flow, storage).

    Schedule and perform system reboots or failovers required for patching or outages.

    1. Incident & Ticket Management

    Handle incoming ServiceNow tickets related to monitoring issues.

    Open vendor support cases (“factory tickets”) as needed.

    Collaborate with networking and other IT teams to resolve incidents promptly.

    1. Stakeholder Engagement

    Attend Teams meetings with department IT staff to promote observability services.

    Provide regular status updates and maintain clear communication about system health.

    Required Qualifications

    • Technical Expertise

    Hands-on experience with SolarWinds Orion and SolarWinds Observability components (NPM, SAM, etc.).

    Strong understanding of network, server, and application monitoring principles.

    Proficiency in alert configuration, report/dashboard design, and template management.

    • Operational Skills

    Proven ability to perform daily system health checks and manage patching/failover activities.

    ServiceNow experience or comparable ticketing systems, with the aptitude to escalate issues appropriately.

    • Collaboration & Communication

    Excellent interpersonal skills; able to liaise with technical and non-technical teams.

    Able to document processes, facilitate knowledge sharing, and train others where needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) or experience with SolarWinds training materials. • Familiarity with hybrid-cloud infrastructure and self-hosted versus SaaS observability deployments. • Experience with network protocols (SNMP, WMI, API) and database health monitoring.
