Solid State Construction, the largest installer of James Hardie siding in the Northeast, is searching for a PART-TIME, EXPERIENCED BOOKKEEPER with a strong construction accounting background. SSC is a family-owned siding, roofing, windows/doors and decks installation company. We pride ourselves on being customer-focused, raising the bar on service and professionalism in the remodeling industry.
Qualified bookkeeper candidates must be detail oriented, have experience with Quickbooks Online for Contractors, and advanced in Microsoft Excel. This position handles the fundamental aspects of SSC's financial record keeping, as well as assisting with coordinating an effective and efficient office environment. A successful bookkeeper candidate will also be reliable, self-motivated, and organized. Excellent time management and attention to detail are key as we are a small team and we all wear many hats.
We are flexible regarding hours worked - hours may range from 15 hours per week to 35 hours per week. THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED OUT OF OUR OFFICE IN SHIRLEY, MA. This bookkeeper position will have its own enclosed working space/office.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and organize all accounts payable, accounts receivable
Handle regular tax reporting (payroll, federal and state, 1099s)
General ledger, bank, credit card, and pro account reconciliations
Processing internal insurance audits
Managing/auditing subcontractors insurance certificates for expiration
Data entering marketing costs into CRM
Data entering new contracts sold into Quickbooks, invoicing customers when needed
Processing financing and working with financing vendors
Processing weekly payroll for employees and subcontractors, including calculating and managing sales commissions
Entering and managing/auditing subcontractor labor bills/invoices
Acting as back-up for answering incoming calls to the office
Open and close office from time to time
MUST HAVE:
Strong working knowledge of job costing and construction accounting
Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, plus 3 or more years of general accounting experience
5+ years of Quickbooks experience is preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Customer service mindset with a drive to establish and continuously improve processes
Ability to prioritize workload
Strong oral and written communication skills
The ability to be diplomatic and tactful in relationships with a variety of internal/external associates, clients and customers
The ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of sensitive information
The ability to work with little or no supervision
This PART-TIME BOOKKEEPER position is flexible part-time and will range from 15-35 hours per week. We are looking to pay $18-25/hour, based on experience, with slight flexibility. This position will also include accrued paid sick/vacation time.
