My client helps talent scouts around the world find the best undiscovered artists through data analytics and machine learning. They are currently looking to grow their engineering team.

There are two core components to their technology:

The Platform: The industry's most comprehensive data analytics and visualization platform, used by the most influential people in music. They depend on it to find emerging talent that deserves their attention, and monitor critical insights and data on their own roster of artists.

AI: Using deep learning, predictive modelling, and our ever-growing database of billions of data points, we're developing algorithms that use social, streaming, and concert data to find the next superstar.

The music landscape is constantly changing. That means discovering and ingesting new data sources, designing a scalable data architecture around them, and using that data to ship new features for our users. That's where you come in.

    You will be:

    • Developing large-scale crawling, ingestion, and processing pipelines to power their Platform and AI.

    • Writing complex queries over our terabyte-scale database to extract insights from that data.

    • Using those insights to design and implement backend APIs to power new features for their Platform

    • Building automation tools to make sure our systems remain operational, healthy, and scalable as we add new features

    • Taking on a managerial/leadership role as we grow

    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Back-end: Ruby on Rails

    • PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, Elasticsearch, Redis

    • AWS, Ubuntu

    • 3+ years of professional experience building data-intensive web applications, SQL, and working with 3rd party APIs.

    • Strong understanding of database design principles and optimization techniques.

    • Experience drawing insight from data: formulating hypotheses, applying basic mathematics to validate them, and using intuition to guide further investigation.

    • Proven ability to prototype, ask for feedback, and iterate quickly.

    • Ideally, you've built an exciting SaaS product and loved the satisfaction that comes with knowing that people around the world are using what you've created.
