    ABOUT SOLUGEN:

    Solugen, Inc. is a revolutionary technology company seeking to use biology to transform the chemicals industry. Solugen was founded in 2016 and is a post-Series B venture-backed startup company supported by renowned venture capital firms including Founders Fund, Fifty Years, Refactor, and Y Combinator. Located in Houston, Texas, Solugen is currently scaling up its manufacturing facility to use its chemienzymatic process to manufacture biobased chemistries for water treatment, agriculture, and personal care. Solugen currently has 50+ full time employees.

    MISSION

    Solugen's mission is to decarbonize chemicals manufacturing. As a first step, Solugen is building a 10,000 tpy first commercial plant with the potential to offset up to 37,000 tpy of carbon dioxide equivalents. This role will directly support Solugen's mission by ensuring Solugen's financial performance against Solugen's plan, analyzing business performance and market conditions to create forecasts, and helping senior management make tactical and strategic decisions by providing periodic reports. Reporting to the Lead FPA Analyst, this is a hands-on role where the individual's initiative, financial analytical knowledge, and energy level will make a substantial impact on the company's mission.

    KEY OUTCOMES

    • Maintain corporate model for forecasting our revenue, cost, cash flow and balance sheet monthly.
    • Support sales operations with sales funnel and process analysis to improve the overall efficiency of Solugen's commercialization efforts as required
    •  Assist with budgeting and capital expenditures planning and analysis (quarterly / annually)
    • Assist with optimizing credit offered to customers using a custom model under development but with room for continuous improvement. 
    • Monthly assist Finance and Supply Chain staff with reviewing our vendor base, identification of key/core vendors and support negotiations over improved credit terms, including early payment discounts.  Alternatively, recommend suspension of the account if no activity is likely in the short or medium term.
    • Periodically as required, assist with developing ad-hoc models for leadership.  Be comfortable with working in ambiguity and having to sort through issues without historical or internal reference points to guide analysis.

    • Excel mastery and high proficiency with PowerPoint

    • High-level ability to build strong relationships and inuence technical, business, and operational decisions

    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to eciently organize information, analyze large datasets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner

    • Analytical approach to problem solving, in a team environment with attention to results and a sense of urgency

    • Strong Knowledge of economic concepts and analysis with a focus on impacts & actions

    • Understand business reasons and underlying economic substance of transactions and accounting implications

    • Understanding financial risks and the methods for mitigating the impact of these risks

    • ERP & planning software experience desirable

    • Chemical industry experience desirable

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

    3+ years of experience in a similar finance or accounting role in a similar industry or management consulting.  Chemical manufacturing experience would be preferable
